The Problems of PR Agencies

Public relations is a deliberate, planned and sustained effort to establish and strengthen mutual the understanding between an organization and its clients. Today, public relations is a full-value institute which is fundamental from both theoretical and practical perspectives. The aim of the current thesis is to investigate the existing issues and problems in the activities of PR agencies. Also, to outline the main problems which may exist in the practice of PR agencies and to investigate those problems in the practical activities of selected Eastern European and Czech companies, to draw conclusions on how the problems in the practice of Eastern European and Czech companies compare and differ and to provide recommendations for the analyzed companies to minimize the negative effects of those problems. Both parts of the topic were analyzed: theoretical part from literature gave the base for the practical interview with managers of selected companies, which provided a complex picture of the topic.
The introduction of the common European currency in the Slovak Republic - the governmental communication campaign

The Bachelor thesis deals with the communication campaign in the Slovak Republic with regard to the introduction of euro on January 1, 2009. Slovakia government was headed by Prime Minister Robert Fico, the Chairman of the political party SMER-SD, at that time. The governmental communication campaign was led by PR agency and had started at the beginning of 2008. The main attention is paid to the most intense part of the campaign in the second half of the year. The target group of the campaign was the general public, with special focus on vulnerable target groups. The work deals with the individual components of the national communication campaign and describes their progress. From the beginning the campaign has been confronted by critical voices from the opposition and the media. They often pointed to government misconduct and lack of knowledge among the Slovak population. The aim of the work is to assess the effectiveness of information campaign by the result of regular polls Slovak Statistical Office - whether the governmental communication strategy has been chosen appropriately and whether inhabitants of Slovakia were sufficiently informed about the upcoming introduction of euro.

The primary objective of the thesis is to analyze the operation and management of the AC&C Public Relations agency and suggest changes possibly leading to higher efficiency. Within the thesis itself, I have mostly focused on the current organisational structure of the agency which I have selected to be the principal problem of its recent operation and source of potential future risks. The theoretical part based mainly on specialized publications supplemented by my own experience, explains the meaning of Public Relations as such and describes the principles of organization and management of small-sized companies including Czech PR agencies. In the second part, the current situation and ways of management at the AC&C Public Relations agency are analyzed and reviewed. The theoretical methods involve the use of SWOT analysis and qualitative reserch. The third part aims at suggesting specific changes possibly useful in making the current operation of the agency more efficient. Therein, the most specific points of management and work of a PR agency are explained. The final chapter deals with the influence of the contemporary financial recession on the operations of the agency and includes suggestions for coping with a period of the kind.
